To Dream of Dancing
A downloadable game for Windows
The Story
You've been abducted. They're inside you.
You find yourself on the ground while explosions and screams echo around you. You are at the mercy of a conductor who demands you follow their choreography but the sequence of moves is a mystery.
Follow your senses, listen, and watch, closely. The only way through this maze is by paying attention and using your memory.
You'll dance until you can't any more
How to play
best experienced on headphones
In To Dream of Dancing you are asked to listen between various sounds (in this case, piano, the sound of loons (a type of bird), and the sounds of war (gunshots and explosions).
You can use the right and left mouse buttons to select a dance move and some, or none, of those sounds will play. You will have to pay attention and attempt to tease out if the sound you are looking for is present amongst multiple sounds and distractions. If it is, you have successfully found a move that counts as part of that sounds combo. If it is absent, you can follow a different sound, or enjoy the dance choreography in silence, and then start again from the first move to iterate on the path you were taking or select a new path entirely.
There are 3 endings to arrive at if you complete a sounds combo successfully three times. To successfully follow a sound, you will have to input the correct sequence of mouse clicks (left, right, right, left, for example)

Information
- This is a prototype vignette, or demo, that was made as part of an anthology of vignettes all part of a loose narrative of two characters exploring the cosmos
- This vignette has 3 endings, and in an expanded version these endings would lead to other new areas of gameplay to continue the path that you selected
- A playthrough is about 5-10 minutes, and it takes 15-30 minutes to see everything this vignette offers
- Each of the 3 endings offers a new style of gameplay, but that gameplay hasn't been refined. Free dance, dream flying, and dowsing, are all paths that can be explored more fully if people like this vignette
- There are several other vignettes in different play styles that will be released over the coming months. These include staging an art show, an outer space love story, and more.
